Murder

I shiver and feel a chill come upon me
I hear the susurration of wind in the leaves
As they begin to shake and rustle upon my approach.
I watch the trees in the arboretum
The branches bent as in graceful mudras of dance.

She demonstrated them to me on a rainy day
When we were still together
The alapadma mudra that tells the story of young Krishna
Stealing milk and butter with the palms facing upwards
The fingers stretched, separated and extended as if asking “why”.

‘Why’ is a question that plagues me now
I know now that Mushti is the ninth mudra
According to ancient sources of Abhinaya Darpana
This Mudra originated from Vishnu
Who used this hand gesture while he was fighting with Madhu.

The four fingers are bent into the palm
While the thumb wraps on top of them in to a fist
Often my fists would do the talking.
The boughs ask those questions of me now
Why couldn’t my jealous heart share her?

Why does my lamentable crime remain underground?

On to  'M' for 'Murder' or should it be 'Murdering Mudra'?

My challenge for April is to write poetry.

My A to Z entries can be navigated to from this page - A2Z, I will be very pleased if you managed to take some time out to read and comments on the poems.

I'd love read what you think about this post...

I really like these lines, “I shiver and feel a chill come upon me I hear the susurration of wind in the leaves As they begin to shake and rustle upon my approach.”
