In his sleep he dreams that he is by the water’s edge. The cool breeze fans his face and he
hears the gentle gurgling sound of the water lapping by the shore.
But why does his head feel so hot and his feet damp?
His eyes open groggily adjusting to the bright light.
He is on a chair strapped by a rope in a python like embrace. The feet are submerged in water and
his shoes soaked.
Distant laughter echoes in his ears. As his eyes scan the shore he sees
them waving.
"Bastards,” he
swears, "I’ll get you too".
Written for Friday Fictioneers Word Count : 100
Lately I have been missing the FF's deadline due to travel and work. So this is a relatively early bird entry for me. While fictional it does draw from pranks that may have occurred in boarding school and school camps. I would never do anything like this ;-) To wade in and read the other writers this week click here.
A few of us have people tied to that chair!
ReplyDeleteWhat a mean prank!
But they are still fun :-) Thanks for reading and commenting Dale.
DeleteGood setup scene. Now let us know how he gets out of that python-like embrace. This calls for Houdini.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they will reel him in eventually :-) Thanks for your comments Christine.
DeleteVengeance is sweet :)
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed. Thanks for reading Linda.
DeleteYou apparently weave stories around pictures shared in your group. While your words successfully flesh out the images with fabrics of fancy, mostly they rise much, much above them. I rarely check out the pictures on which you base your fiction.
ReplyDeleteThank you for those words of praise Umashankar. I am glad you drop in to read my blog.
Deletea rope in a python like embrace... nice. Cute story.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments and the photo Ted.
DeleteDear Subroto,
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he didn't wet himself before he woke up. Revenge is a dish best served cold. His 'friends' had best be on the lookout. Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle
PS I've noticed your absence and missed your presence.
Thank you for your lovely comments Rochelle. I don't get too many visitors to this blog but the ones who visit and comment are the best :-)
DeleteI can maybe explain your lack of visitors (some of us.) When I visit Blogspot blogs from my WordPress address and leave a comment, it's a nuisance. I can't just "hop over and hop back. It wants to mess up my settings and I have to log in to WP again when I'm done, plus the comment often simply disappears.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is because I have this old Swallow in the Wind Blogspot address. But if I leave a comment from "Swallow" I don't get any e-mail reply from the comment because my e-mail's set up to work on WP. I have to check back later to see if anything was said --- which is what I did just now.
I have both accounts - wordpress and blogger. The blogger was created first and have been using it for blogging. I had to create the wordpress account as my comments on wordpress sites were being marked as spam otherwise. Regardless of the formats, it would be nice to have more comments. Maybe it's just the content that does not appeal.
