In My Life

PHOTO PROMPT – © Emmy L Gant
There are places I remember

All my life, though some have changed

Sometimes nature reflects your mood.  The brooding clouds come rolling in, bringing with them a sense of gloom.  A malevolent presence entices you to the dark side.

All these places had their moments

Yet in the midst of this oppressive time, there is a light, a flame that flickers in the dark.

There is no one compares with you

It gives you courage and the strength to find a way out of the gloom.  All the light we cannot see.

In my life I love you more

It didn't feel right to have a Beatles song and a dark story.  So here is a second one for the week, referencing another song and a hidden reference to one of the best books I read in this past year.

  1. Dear Subroto,

You've roped me in with the song that's among my top five Beatles songs. Nice job of weaving the lines into your story.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  2. I agree with Rochelle. One of my favourite Beatles tracks. Clever linking the two.

  3. I love the song, too! I once was asked to sing it during a wedding service. It felt a little weird. Although the final line is "I love you more," it seems like a lot of the song is about past loves. Not the usual fare for a wedding! Ah, well, it was a lovely song and a lovely wedding. Also, this is a lovely story!

    1. It is indeed about past love and experiences. But it's also about expressing one's love for someone, by comparing them to the past. Thank you for your comments Jan I am glad you liked it.

  4. Suddenly, the last sentence puts things in a new perspective. Beatles number has been impeccably picked.

    1. Thank you. I can't claim any credit for the work of the musical genius who wrote the song but I'll take your praise for the story.

  10. It's well he has a bright spot in his life as he seems prone to depression. I hope the love helps him through the rough spots. Well done, Subroto. --- Suzanne
