Songs from the Big Chair

PHOTO PROMPT Copyright-Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

I play the songs in my head these days.  They are the songs from the bigchair where I now sit and narrate my story.

To those who ask why I retained the studio after the members left, I respond that it was the musical memory that I wished to keep alive.

Music presents an emotion that your soul can react to.  It is like experiencing the emotions of other people.  But you recognise and react to it in your own way with a sense of joy or deep melancholia.

I only killed them so that their music would survive.

  5. Dear Subroto,

Obviously I need to find out more about Tears for Fears. More than one writer this week zeroed in on that album while the photographer was oblivious.

Well written with a zinger of a last line.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

    1. I think the photographer might have noticed if it was a Beatles album, though for us 80's kids Tears for Fears did leave some musical memories.
Thank you for reading and your words of appreciation.

  6. I too zeroed in on Tears For Fears, a powerful musical influence in my youth. That last line really surprised... The story was almost poetic, in the way it captured the mood. Well done!

Great story and I saw the Tears for Fears also, but I'm old so Beatles is more my style - well really the Mama's & Papas, and anything from MoTown. Good job! Nan :)

  10. I zeroed in on the album then realized I didn't remember any Tears for Fears songs. So I went for the chalkboard beside the window. Glad you stuck to your path, you led us into an interesting world.

    1. Thank you Alicia. I was a big radio listener those days and now for some reason I can't get their song 'Everybody rules the world' out of my head.

Oh, it got really dark at the end there. That's one way to preserve music. Your opening is a standout. Nice story!

Interesting use of the title of the Tears for Fears album. A bit creepy too.

      All my best,

Songs from the big chair was always such a great title, well done on identifying the album cover and using it so well! Your tale is full of melancholia and I appreciate what your narrator says about musical memory - all those jolly TfF tunes have had me dancing around this weekend - mentally if not literally. I think killing for preservation is going a bit far though, and I didn't see that end coming. Well done.
