When Vincent was five his parents organised an exhibition of his paintings at home. Mother really wanted to book the local art gallery but Father baulked at the costs. Still invitations were sent and a caterer provided hors d’oeuvre and drinks.
Mother said that Art brings about a refining quality. While Vincent was her womb she read aloud the
lives of famous artists and their techniques. She
felt vindicated by the artwork that Vincent produced at the childcare.
At eighteen Vincent was caught spraying profane graffiti ranting
against art. The local newspaper
reported the 'artistic vandal'. Mother was
so proud.

Dear Subroto,
ReplyDeleteClever title for an amusing story. I think Mother has a problem. ;)
Shalom,
Rochelle
Mother had great expectations ;-) Thanks for your comments Rochelle, I am glad you liked it.
DeleteOh dear. The mom must have mistook the vandalism for art, and still been proud :D
ReplyDeleteShe did indeed, thanks for reading and commenting Vinay.
DeleteI think she's trying to live vicariously through her son. Fun story.
ReplyDeleteShe does live for the Arts. Thanks for your comments Russell, I am glad you liked it.
DeleteYou can't really disappoint this mother easily it seems :) Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteAnything artistic will do. Thanks for your comments Ansumani I am glad you liked it.
DeleteWhat a great title and I have to agree with Mum. A lot of graffiti is good art which is now being preserved and sold for a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a Banksy in the making then? Thanks for reading and commenting Irene, I am glad you liked it.
DeleteMum's expectations grew with the challenge, it seems. Good for her to be proud.
ReplyDeleteShe does have great expectations :-) Thanks for your comments GaH.
DeleteI think you caught the essence of what art can be... caught is the true part of performing art I think.
ReplyDeleteThat is also correct, thanks for your comments Björn.
DeleteIf he's that angry, he may spray paint Mom next. Very amusing story, Subroto. :D --- Suzanne
ReplyDeleteThen she might not appreciate art that up close and personal. Thanks for you comments Suzanne I am glad you liked it.
