Smarty pant, wise guy, smart aleck

We have all known one

There is no hiding from them

We get to meet the smarties

At family get-togethers

Even in the workplace or in a social setting.

They display their self-ascribed superiority

In a wide variety of ways

Dominating conversations,

Offering unwanted advice

Argumentative in meetings

And bossing everyone around.

 They can also be condescending,

Challenging authority figures

Engage us in pointless debates.

Full of useless facts, knowledge and tidbits

Everybody knows them: People who know everything

At least, that’s what they believe

The know-it-alls are everywhere

And they know everything

I mention this to my friend

He smirks and replies

Did you know that the German word for know-it-all

Is Besserwisser, which literally means "better knower"?
