Old Ed didn’t really believe in climate change and fossil fuel alternatives.
“If God didn’t want us to drive big SUVs, he would never
have given us gas.”
Burning carbon was never an issue with him.
“No man can eat a charcoal grilled steak and not have tears
of joy. It’s not just the factories that
need coal”.
Global warming was all a big conspiracy because carbon
dioxide “literally cannot cause global warming.”
“No way the Earth is getting warmer, these temperatures are
normal”.
Unfortunately it snowed this summer.

I don't know where you are at the Climate Change debate but we have to accept that human influence is also a contributory factor to climate change. For this reason alone the changes we make now will impact the future. And then there is Ed and that other guy whose tweet I have linked ;-)
I can feel myself growing hot under the collar already at your portrayal of people whose idea of evidence is as you illustrate
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil but "hot under the collar" is just climate change ;-)
DeleteWhat's it going to take for some people to believe in global warming, finding their homes under water, burned to the ground, or blown into the next country? Probably even then they would deny. They can't see any further than the end of their noses. It's just plain stupidity. :( --- Suzanne
ReplyDeleteIt's just a little toasty weather Suzanne, cooler days will be here again ;-)
DeleteSome people are very silly. We just have to accept that and then ignore them.
ReplyDeleteTrue Iain but one day silly people may rule the world, become presidents..oh wait...
DeleteOh, Ed, you mad fool. Well, as long as there's no-one in a position of importance who feels the same way...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely there is no way someone like that can become the President of a major power, like the USA for example.
DeleteStupid Ed! And all the nay-sayers like him! Nice take on the photo prompt.

Thanks Susan. Ed needs to be Educated.
DeleteEven snow in summer wouldn't convince some people. I love some of their arguments - darkly funny if it wasn't so serious. Well put.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret, among the many arguments they also say "Polar bear numbers are increasing" (not true).
DeleteDear Subroto,
ReplyDeleteSnow in summer would only make people believe that it's global cooling. Since I had it explained more fully, I'm a believer in global warming. We've done it to ourselves. Good take on the prompt.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I am glad you had that explained. Because while it's hard to explain unusually cold weather in a world that scientists say is getting hotter, the fact remains that we do live in a warming world.
DeleteWell done, Subroto. It is a serious issue. So many people think global warming means no more cold but it screws up all the seasons.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Climate change is already happening and we can't just sit back and do nothing.
DeleteI've heard this kind of reasoning too often. Lalala, can't hear you is a great attitude for shaping the future. Good story, can't be told often enough.
ReplyDeleteDigging your head in the sand works for Ostriches too ;-)
DeleteThanks for your comments Gabi, I am glad you liked it.
An excellent write.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am glad you liked it.
