I am never going to that restaurant. There we were having
fun on the karaoke machine and this waiter asked us to stop. We told him to stop being cranky?
Then we all called him a killjoy. You know what he said?
“I love my music and I’d even say it’s not that bad a song. Got a nice rhythm to it and before I worked
here I might have even hummed it. But if
I hear ‘Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh-eh’ one more time, I’ll
seriously open the umbrella where the sun don’t shine.”

Its Umbrella week at the Friday Fictioneers. I may come back with a serious flash in which I discuss the meaning of life. But lets have some fun first.

I feel his pain
ReplyDeleteKindred spirits, you should share an umbrella ;-)
DeleteIt's one of those few songs that will never, ever go away, whether that's a good thing or not! Good take.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be firmly lodged in your head this week :-)
DeleteThere is nothing more painful than having an earbug... there are a few such songs I cannot stand.
ReplyDeleteThe music never stops playing in your head :-)
DeleteWhen this song came out, I found it a real earbug too. Cleverly connected to the prompt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa, I hope you listened to it again :-)
DeleteEven the catchiest tune is only good for the first thousand times. But he doesn't get to tell you no.
ReplyDeleteHe has reached a breaking point, maybe he needs time off :-)
DeleteI'm with Neil... I so feel his pain. Cannot stand this song!!
ReplyDeleteSo you did not play the video at the end of the flash? I am disappointed :-)
DeleteOh hell no.... Sorry... not.
DeleteSome cranky waiter! I am sure you did not tip him.
ReplyDeleteHe was gifted a free CD of the song instead ;-)
DeleteOuch - the song and the umbrella!
ReplyDeleteClick to read my FriFic tale!
Don't know which one is more painful ;-)
DeleteDear Subroto,
ReplyDeleteI'd stay away from that restaurant...or at the very least report that waiter. How rude. Made me laugh.
Shalom,
Rochelle
But can you escape that song? :-)
DeleteOh.. That song.. I would never visit the restaurant..
ReplyDeleteBad service has that effect and customers vote with their wallets.
DeleteHis threat sounds painful - leave and go to a different restaurant. Jilly, Sugar on the Bee
ReplyDeleteBut would he carry it out? His punishment s that he can't get that tune out of his head :-)
DeleteIs this restaurant the one where waiters can be rude? Well, I understand the pain of the waiter, but still customer is a customer. Anyway, I liked the last line!
ReplyDeleteThis is that situation when sometimes music makes people do crazy things :-)
DeleteI liked this story; the way you have written the waiter's comments is excellent, and you capture his irritation very well indeed.
ReplyDeleteI give full credit to the song ;-)
DeleteI can imagine that after a few weeks it could get a tad annoying :-) And the patrons all think they're being clever...
ReplyDeleteIt's even worse when the patrons think that they can hold a tune ;-)
DeleteEverything I could think of to say has already been said :)
ReplyDeleteI liked the way you tied this one up in such a neat little package. There, that was something different!
I hope you listened to the music for inspiration :-)
DeleteI know a few songs like that too, but threatening an umbrella colonoscopy was going a little too far.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he is trained at carrying out surgical strikes ;-)
DeleteIt can be grating for the employees who have to listen to it day in and day out. Cute.
ReplyDeleteWorse when they start singing it at home :-)
DeleteGreat use of repeated words in this. You describe the waiter's pain prefectly with this fun take on the prompt. :)
ReplyDeleteReading the comments I think we have all shared that pain :-)
DeleteSome songs have that effect! As painful as opening the umbrella where the sun doesn't shine. ;)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Looks like we all feel that pain :-)
