The Travellers

PHOTO PROMPT © Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

“Nervous?”

The gentleman in an airline uniform gives me a kind smile.   I suppose it’s on my face, this journey that I never wanted to take but am now booked to go.

“A little” I reply.

“Relax,” he says “It will be over before you know”.

I take another look at his startling green eyes in a face that is wrinkled like a prune.

I nod at the other travellers, “I expected it to be different, not such an orderly wait.”

He laughs.

“We do need to update the books.   I am Charon and I’ll be flying your craft today.”

  3. Dear Subroto,

He was very reassuring until he shared his name. I guess even Charon had to move on with the times. ;) Well done.

    Shalom,

  6. Surrounded by kindness, order and civility. What a nice way to go - we don't get anything like that in the world of the living. A very imaginative and engaging story.

  7. That will definitely be his last flight. I understood it was a boat but then times change. A good story that's well written, Subroto. :) --- Suzanne
